Peat smoke, white sands and a light found nowhere else.
About the artwork
There's something about the light on Islay, the island famous for its peaty single malt whisky and white beaches. Look across the Sound of Islay and you'll see the other thing that defines the view: the Paps of Jura. These distinctive, rounded mountains rise from the neighbouring island and dominate the horizon, shifting from soft blue to deep slate as the weather and light change.
Painted in oils, the original captures the scale of those peaks, the clarity of the air and the quiet drama of the scene as seen from Islay. This canvas print reproduces the depth and gentle brushwork of the painting faithfully, so the view feels as expansive on your wall as it does in person.
