The Duke, Glasgow | Fine Art Print on Paper | Duke of Wellington Statue, Royal Exchange Square

This depiction of the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square has gained notoriety due to pranksters placing a traffic cone on the statue’s head. Its portrayal in oil on canvas adds a unique artistic touch to the city’s colourful culture.

The equestrian statue stands outside the Gallery of Modern Art in the heart of the city centre, and the cone has become one of Glasgow’s best-loved symbols of its irreverent sense of humour. Jenny Hunter’s painting celebrates that spirit, finding character and warmth in a landmark that locals and visitors alike recognise and smile at. The cone is as much a part of the city’s story as the monument itself.

This fine art print is reproduced from the artist’s original oil painting on canvas, with the richness of colour and brushwork carried through to the finished piece.

Why you’ll love it
A lovely piece for anyone who loves Glasgow, its humour and its landmarks, or who has a favourite memory of the Duke and his cone. It makes a thoughtful housewarming, anniversary, leaving or souvenir gift, and would suit a living room, kitchen, hallway or study.
